A Newborn Photographer based in Epsom Surrey, capturing images of newborn babies that are both natural and posed. My style is to achieve a clean look with the focus being on your new baby. Props can be used towards the end of your newborn photography session as long as your baby is still content.
A newborn photographer in the Surrey Area, my first priority is the baby’s safety and comfort. Babies were curled up in the womb for 9 months and do feel comfortable in these curly poses. If they are not happy to go into a pose I will move on to something more their style! Babies older than 3 weeks tend to be happier lying stretched out. They have had the time to adjust to their new spacious environment and a becoming more alert.
Best Time for the Session:
Generally the first 3 weeks of a baby’s life is the best time for newborn images. If you would like to achieve a few curly poses then the first 14 days is best. If you are happy to have ‘sleepy just baby posing themselves’ images then waiting up to 3 weeks is fine. A few things to remember – the older they are the more time they have had to adjust to their environment, they are much more alert and sensitive to touch (can wake easily) and sometimes they come out in baby acne along with very dry skin.
What to Expect:
To book your session date with me, a £100 deposit is paid to hold your date – this is deducted from your selected package. Your baby’s due date is used to book the date. The actual session date will be placed in the calendar once your sweet little one arrives. With all my bookings I send the families a Newborn Session Guide to explain what to expect on the day of the Newborn Photography Session.
My sessions are very baby-led and if there are siblings then I will make sure that my session will run in such a way to keep all children happy. Sometimes the siblings will take time to warm up to me and other times they just jump right in. I am happy to start with the family pictures first and then move on to a sleepy baby or the other way around.
The Images:
As part of my session I do like to spend a few moments right in the beginning focusing on the tiny details. Lips, fingers, toes/feet, eyelashes and ears as they can often be forgotten. Will you remember the little pout they had or the tiny hairs on the side of their ears, the creases in the toes and feet. Some babies have such long eyelashes. I love to capture them softly falling down the face. One thing I can’t capture is that gorgeous new smell and soft skin of your precious newborn. I hope that I can create memories in the images to bring back that smell and feel. Who knows, one day we might even have a camera that would be able to do that!
The newborn gallery will be ready to view in 3 weeks. I will send on a link for you to view the images. These images are low resolution and can not be printed out. This allows for my galleries to load much quicker. You can select the number of images that are available in the package you want via the link I send you or if you love all the images you will receive the full gallery on your USB and via a download link once payment is completed.
Memories:
These newborn photographs which are captured in my studio in Epsom are yours to hang on your walls or place in an album. I throughly enjoy it when families bring in something that is of meaning to them to make their images even more unique to them. Ideas from previous sessions – a beautiful knitted blanket’s made by a great granny; a comforter that was once mums as a baby; a little outfit that baby came home in from the hospital; or a teddy that was given to the baby by a sibling. The options are endless. I do recommend to keep the heirloom item a neutral one so not to draw attention away from your precious baby. Large items can also make it difficult for baby to hold and can be distracting in the images.
