What to Wear Guide

WHAT TO WEAR GUIDE

I recommend neutral colours (creams, grays, peach/coral, dusty pinks, rose, whites, browns, pastel shades and black), OR the neutral colours with a small hint of colour. I prefer to let clothing & accessories compliment rather than take over the photographs, so that my subjects truly shine through, not their clothing. I suggest mums to bring nude or white underwear (if you have) a white, black or dark blue shirt from dad-to be’s cupboard and something fitting to show off the bump.

Layering, even the same neutral color scheme, in various textures & accessories can do much for an image.  The same is true for babies. Something very simple in terms of textures, tones, and colors, or even just their sweet little diapered bottoms (especially newborns).

If dad and siblings are coming along, please do NOT try to MATCH exactly and avoid polo shirts.  Well fitting clothing that you feel comfortable in is always most important and please dress for the same season.

I like to keep this PINTEREST board of clothing & accessory ideas for you to browse through and see a visual for my thoughts above. Shoes are not important for studio sessions as the main focus is on the bump and mummy-to-be.

My online gallery can also give you a few ideas of what previous clients have worn. Take a look, and don’t be afraid to run anything by me, and if you are unsure you could always bring a few options along and we can discuss it during your session.  Accessories that add tone and texture look amazing.
